How many sessions does it require?

It usually is planned as 4 sessions but may differ depending on the patient’s condition. There are different regimens in peeling procedures, therefore your dermatologist will suggest you the optimal plan. In procedures which require multiple sessions, 1-2 week intervals are needed between each.

Is it painful?

This procedure is not painful at all. A mild burning sensation may be experienced due to certain products but this feeling is temporary and brief. No anaesthetics are required before the procedure.

How long does it take?

It is a 15-20 minutes long procedure.

What should I pay attention to after the procedure?

A mild itching may be experienced after the procedure, depending on the products used. If the peeling procedure aims to rejuvenate the skin, the upper skin layer can remove itself during the day. Therefore, patients should not wash their face or apply any other products on the day of the peel. Sun screen must be applied to the face if requested by the doctor. No itching, massaging or rubbing is recommended.

What are the side effects of chemical peel?

If the patient does not use sun screen during the following days of the procedure, some undesirable spots might appear. Some patients might experience a mild burning sensation which goes away within a few hours but the patient can return to his/her daily activities on the same day without any problem.

When would it be the ideal time to have a chemical peel?

This process should be performed in spring or winter when you do not receive so much sunlight.
